Bhutan’s Ambassador to Belgium presents credentials

H. E. Sonam Tobden Rabgye presented his credentials to His Majesty King Albert II, King of the Belgians, at Laeken Castle in Brussels on 14 July 2009.
Diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Bhutan and the Kingdom of Belgium were established on 21 January 2009. Belgium is the first country with which Bhutan has established diplomatic relations after becoming a full-fledged democracy in 2008.
The establishment of diplomatic relations with Belgium will help further strengthen the friendly relations and provide opportunities for discussing trade, development assistance and other issues of mutual interest.
Ambassador Sonam T. Rabgye is Bhutanโ€™s first Ambassador to Belgium with residence in Brussels and with concurrent accreditation to Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Sweden and the European Union and the European Commission. Bhutan now has diplomatic relations with 22 countries.
