  1. Lyonpo Damcho Dorji, Minister for Foreign Affairs will lead the Bhutanese delegation to the first-ever  World  Humanitarian  Summit (WHS) in Istanbul, Turkey from  23- 24 May 2016.
  1. The Summit is being convened by the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and co-hosted by the Government of Republic of Turkey.

  1. At the  Summit,  global   leaders  will  discuss  ways  to  effectively   respond to       major humanitarian   challenges, and  consider  how  to  be  better  prepared  to  meet  future challenges.
  1. As a least developed  and  landlocked  country,  Bhutan  will  highlight  vulnerability   to natural disasters and the effects of climate change. Bhutan as a global leader in environmental stewardship will reaffirm  its commitment to remain carbon neutral.
  1. The Bhutanese delegation  will  comprise  of  officials  from  the  Ministry   of  Home  and Cultural  Affairs, Gross National  Happiness Commission  and  the  Ministry  of  Foreign
