The 2nd Bhutan-India Small Development Project/High Impact Community Development Project (SDP/HICDP) Committee Meeting was held on 22nd October 2019 in Thimphu. The Bhutanese delegation was led by Mr. Sonam Tobgay, Director, Department of Bilateral Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Indian delegation by Mr. R. Gaurav Shresth, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India, Thimphu. Representatives from GNH Commission, Ministry of Finance, and Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, also attended the meeting.

The Government of India has committed Nu. 8,500 million for Small Development Project (SDP) inthe 12th FYP. The meeting reviewed and approved 214 projects amounting to Nu. 3888.514 million under the 2nd batch of SDP. Construction of RNR infrastructures, education, health and urban infrastructures, bridges, irrigation channels, farm roads and drinking water facilities are some of the major projects approved under the 2nd batch of 12th FYP SDP. A total of 359 projects amounting to Nu. 5737.114 million have been approved under the two batches of SDP. 

The leader of the Bhutanese delegation conveyed the deep gratitude of the people and the Royal Government of Bhutan to the people and Government of India for providing continued and generous support to Bhutan’s socio-economic development and making significant contributions to the people at the grassroots level through Small Development Projects.
