At the invitation of the Danish-Bhutanese Friendship Association, Ambassador of Bhutan to Denmark Ms. Pema Choden and officials from the Royal Bhutanese Embassy in Brussels attended the Annual General Meeting of the Association on 17th March 2018 in Copenhagen. Around 20 members of the Association attended the event.
Ambassador thanked Mr. Henrik A. Nielsen, Chairperson and other members of the Association for the invitation and stated that it was a wonderful opportunity to renew the long-standing and strong ties of friendship between the people of Denmark and Bhutan. She spoke about current developments in Bhutan which include the third Parliamentary elections in Bhutan and launching of the 12th Five Year Plan.ย Ambassador also thanked the members of the Association for their friendship & support and for promoting Bhutan in Denmark.
The Meeting programme also included screening of a short film titled โOrganic Farming and Zero Waste in Bhutanโ on the Samdrup Jongkhar Initiative for organic farming produced by Mr. Hans Wessing, member of the Association.
The Danish-Bhutanese Friendship Association in Denmark was founded in 1985. Mr. Henrik A. Nielsen is the current Chairperson of the friendship association, having taken over from Ms. Ellen Buch-Hansen in June 2017.
The Association has over 60 members and includes Danes who have a special interest in Bhutan, having lived and worked or travelled there, as well as Bhutanese living in Denmark.
