Australian Ambassador to Bhutan calls on the Foreign Minister

The Ambassador of Australia to Bhutan H.E. Mrs. Harinder Sidhu called on Foreign Minister Lyonpo Damcho Dorji on 23 November 2016 at the Gyalyong Tshokhang. The Ambassador is in the country to present scholarships to Bhutanese individuals who has been selected to study in Australia. A total of 33 AusAid and 12 Endeavor Scholarships will be awarded for Bhutan for 2017 admission.

Lyonpo Damcho Dorji thanked the Ambassador and the Australian Government for the scholarship offers. The scholarships will benefit both the civil servants and the private sector employees in building human resource capacity in the country.

The Ambassador also called on the Prime Minister on 22 November 2016 and she will be calling on the Chairperson of the National Council on 25 November 2016.

Besides the meetings, the Ambassador attended a RENEW event on violence against women on 23 November 2016. The Ambassador will also attend an event organized by the Australian Volunteers in Bhutan.
