His Majesty the King has conferred the “Gyentag” to Bhutan’s two female ambassadors

Kutshab Aum Pema Choden Kutshab PMB NYHis Majesty the King has conferred the “Gyentag” to Bhutan’s two female ambassadors: Kunzang C. Namgyel, Permanent Representative of Bhutan to the United Nations in New York, concurrently accredited as Ambassador to Canada and Brazil; and Pema Choden, Bhutan’s resident Ambassador to Belgium and the European Union with concurrent accreditation to Sweden, the Netherlands, Denmark, Finland and Spain.
The “Gyentag” (literally “symbol of responsibility”) is the insignia for women poenkhas and is awarded in recognition of their official position. It comprises an ornamental bar pin and white fringeless Rachu, and is equivalent to the Patang and Kabney conferred to their male counterparts.

In celebration of the honour and on this auspicious and happy occasion, the Officers and Staff of the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Bhutan to the United Nations in New York and the Royal Bhutanese Embassy Brussels held a Tendrel Ceremony on the 17th and 18th of August 2016 respectively.
