Additional Security Measures at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol
At the request of the Protocol Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kingdom of Netherlands, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bhutan would like to inform the general public that additional security measures have been taken at and around Amsterdam airport Schiphol in the interest of safety and security of passengers and employees. As per information received, these measures taken are consistent with the national threat level, which has been at “substantial” since 2013. Although some additional security measures will be visible and noticeable, and will lead to some delays, the leading principle is that travel to and from Schiphol Airport continues.
Passengers traveling to Schiphol by train or car may be stopped for checking by the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee; they should count on an extra half hour of travel time. The additional security measures at and around Amsterdam Airport Schiphol will remain in place for the foreseeable future.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs would like to request all Bhutanese nationals planning travel to the Netherlands to take note of this information.
