4th Meeting of the Board of Advisers of PGA on LLS

Permanent Representative Ambassador Doma Tshering  participated in the Fourth Meeting of the Board of Advisers of the President of the General Assembly (PGA) on the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (LLS). The discussions were held on “Responding to the Need of our Planet,” one of the five rays of HOPE of H.E. Abdulla Shahid’s presidency. 

Ambassador highlighted the importance of calling for higher ambition particularly from major emitters, adaptation and resilience in LLS and climate finance to leverage climate action. Ambassador underlined the global significance and relevance of the mountain ecosystems, covering 22 percent of the world’s land area,  providing homes to 14 percent of the world’s population,  source of 70 percent of the world’s fresh water and hosting about 25% of the terrestrial biodiversity. Ambassador called for special attention to the mountainous countries, given the important linkage of mountains to the overall achievement of the sustainable development goals.
