PRESS RELEASE

The Fifth bilateral meeting between the Royal Government of Bhutan and Government of Japan took place in New Delhi today on the 12th of August 2010. The Bhutanese delegation was led by Mr. Thinley Penjor, the Director of the Department of Bilateral Affairs. The Japanese delegation was led by Mr. Keizo Takewaka, Minister (Economic and Development) from the Embassy of Japan in New Delhi.

The bilateral consultations are held annually to renew and strengthen the bilateral and economic cooperation between the two countries and also provide a forum to review progress of the ongoing projects. Formal diplomatic relations between Bhutan and Japan was established on 28 March 1986.

Mr. Thinley Penjor, leader of the RGOB delegation also made a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Masashi Mizukami, *Chargรฉ d’affaires*, Embassy of Japan.”
