The 23rd Round of Boundary talks between the Royal Government of Bhutan and the Government of the People’s Republic of China will be held in Thimphu on 24 August 2015. The 11-member Chinese delegation led by H.E. Mr. Liu Zhenmin, Vice Foreign Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs will arrive in Bhutan on 23 August 2015.
The Bhutanese delegation to the Talks will be led by H.E. Lyonpo Damcho Dorji, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and will include senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Boundaries Secretariat.
Bhutan last hosted the 21st Round of Boundary Talks on 22 August 2013. Since then the 22nd Round of Boundary Talks was held in China in July 2014 and two rounds of Expert Group Meetings were held, one in Thimphu in October 2014 and the other in Beijing in March 2015.
The boundary negotiations between Bhutan and China are guided by the Guiding principles agreed to in 1988 and the Agreement on the Maintenance of Peace and Tranquility in the Bhutan-China Border Areas signed in 1998.
