The new World Bank Resident Representative to Bhutan Mr. Yoichiro Isihara presented his credentials to the Honโ€™ble Foreign Minister, Lyonpo Damcho Dorji, at a ceremony conducted at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Gyalyong Tshogkhang on 29 July 2016.

Mr. Ishihara holds a PhD in International Development Economics from the Graduate School of International Development, Nagoya University, Japan. He joined the World Bank in Indonesia as Economist in May 2001 and worked as a task team leader of Country Economic Memorandum (CEM), Economic Monitoring, and Trust Funds and as a co-task team leader for Public Expenditure Review. Prior to the appointment as the World bank Representative to Bhutan, he worked as Senior Economist for World Bank in Rwanda from February 2013.

Mr. Ishihara is a Japanese national. He succeeds Ms. Genevieve Boyreau. He is the third World Bank Representative to Bhutan. The World Bank Office in Thimphu was established in 2010 and also encompasses the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Office.
