The Royal Government of Bhutan and the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand will hold the First Annual Bilateral Consultation from 12 to 13 March 2013 in Bangkok, Thailand. The consultations will be held at Director General –level. The Bhutanese side will be led by Mr. Kinga Singye of the Department of Bilateral Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and will include senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Royal Civil Service Commission, Ministry of Human Resource and Labour, and Tourism Council of Bhutan.

The two sides will review various bilateral issues between the two countries and also exchange views on cooperation in the regional and multilateral fora. The Consultation is expected to lead to a more focused and closer cooperation between the two countries in the future.

The Government of Thailand has been assisting the Royal Government through provision of scholarships under Thai International Cooperation Agency (TICA) and volunteer expertise under the Friends from Thailand Programme.

The Consultation with Thailand is part of the on-going initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to develop forum for policy dialogue with countries with whom Bhutan has close cooperation.
