His Majesty the King granted Dhar to Ambassador Sonam Tshong as the new Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 15th February 2017.
Ambassador Sonam Tshong served as Chief of Protocol and as Ambassador to the European Union in Brussels, Belgium.
The Secretaries to the government are appointed by His Majesty the King as per the Constitution (Article 2.19) โon the recommendation of the Prime Minister, who shall obtain nomination from the Royal Civil Service Commission on the basis of merit and seniority and in accordance with other relevant rules and regulationsโ.
