On 08 November 2018, officials from the Ministry of Health, RGOB, received the second consignment of essential medicines from the Government of Bangladesh at the Burimari Land Port. After the symbolic handing-over ceremony of medicines on 23rd July 2018 in Dhaka between the Bhutanese Ambassador H.E. Sonam T. Rabgye and the Minister for Health and Family Welfare H.E. Mohammed Nasim, the first consignment of essential medicines weighing 35 metric tonnes was delivered to Bhutan on 27 September 2018.
Of the total of 258 types of essential medicines graciously committed by Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh H.E. Sheikh Hasina during her state visit to Bhutan in April 2017, the remaining consignment is expected to be delivered before the end of 2018.
The milestone is an important testament to the strong and unique bond of bilateral ties and cooperation which exists between Bhutan and Bangladesh.
