H.E Nils Ragnar Kamsvรฅg, the Ambassador of Norway to Bhutan based in New Delhi, called on H.E Lyonpo (Dr.) Tandi Dorji, Hon’ble Foreign Minister on 1 April at the Gyalyong Tshokhang. Ambassador Kamsvag is on a two-day official visit to Bhutan to meet the new government and continue discussions on areas of mutual interest. Norway’s assistance in the energy sector over the past 25 years has been instrumental in the development of the sector in the country. The main areas of co-operation in the energy sector were in hydropower, geohazards, renewable energy, energy efficiency, restructuring and institutional strengthening and energy resource assessments. These efforts have contributed towards Bhutanโ€™s socio-economic transformation by helping to address poverty, climate change mitigation and in strengthening the economy. While formal diplomatic relations between the Kingdoms of Bhutan and Norway was established in November 1985, Norway’s assistance to Bhutan can be dated back to the 1967 with the establishment of the Wamrong Riserbo hospital.
