The Royal Bhutanese Embassy organized the celebration of the 106th National Day at the Chancery in the morning of 17th December 2013. The Bhutanese community comprising students from various local universities, Bhutanese families in Thailand and Embassy officials led by Kutshab participated in the celebration. The celebration commenced in the morning with the hoisting of the national flag and singing of the national anthem.ย The Embassy had arranged for the viewing of the live BBS telecast of the event at Changlimithang Ground. The Bhutanese community was very happy with the opportunity to hear His Majesty address the nation. There were cultural performances by students and a special dance troupe brought from Bhutan performed for the occasion followed by lunch.
In the evening the Ambassador hosted a reception at Swissotel Nai Lert Park which was well attended by the diplomatic corps, Government officials, Senators, representatives of the universities, the business community, members of the newly established Thailand- Bhutan Friendship Society and Bhutanese tour operator and students. After singing the national anthems of Thailand and Bhutan, the Ambassador made a speech underscoring the excellent bilateral relations and highlighting Bhutan as a tourism and FDI destination. He proposed toasts to the health and happiness of Their Majesties Kings of the two countries. The guests were later treated to an authentic Bhutanese cuisine and beverages which were well appreciated by all. Besides a Bhutanese handicrafts exhibition there was presentation of cultural show performed by the Bhutanese dance troupe and students.
