Foreign Minister to lead Bhutanese delegation to 35th Session of the SAARC Council of Ministers in Male, Maldives from 17-20  February  2014

The 35th Session of Council of Ministers will take place in Male, Maldives from 17-20th February  2014. Maldives is the current Chair of SAARC and the last Council of Ministers Meeting was  held  in  Addu  City,  Maldives in  2011.  The  Council  of Ministers Meeting will  be preceded  by the 40th Session of  Standing  Committee and  the   45th Session  of  Programming Committee, which   will   begin  from   17 February  2014.

Foreign  Minister Rinzin Dorje  will  lead  the  Bhutanese  delegation comprising of senior  officials   from  the  Ministry of  Foreign  Affairs.  The  meeting in Male will discuss issues relating to  Trade  and Finance, Poverty  Alleviation, Observers  and Rationalization of  SAARC. It  will  discuss the  18th SAARC Summit  in  Kathmandu, Nepal, which  will take place sometime in 2014. The meeting will also endorse  the appointment of the  next SAARC Secretary General, Mr.  Arjun  Badhur Thapa from Nepal.
