On 15th September 2014, Mr. Karma Tsering Namgyal, Consul General of Bhutan called on Shri Janaki Ballav Patnaik, Governor of Assam at Raj Bhavan and Shri Tarun Gogoi, Chief Minister of Assam at his residence.

Mr. Karma Tsering Namgyal conveyed the warm greetings of His Majesty the King and the Prime Minister to the Hon’ble Governor and Chief Minister and through them to the people of Assam. The Consul General expressed his commitment in further enhancing the consular relations with the State of Assam which is one of Bhutan’s immediate neighbors.

The Consul General will be meeting some of the top bureaucrats in the Government of Assam including the Chief Secretary, Home Secretary and Director General of Assam Police to discuss issues of mutual interest and enhancing cordial and peaceful relations along the border. The Consul General will also meet the Bhutanese students studying in Guwahati and Shillong.

Mr. Karma Tsering Namgyal, Consul General is on a familiarization visit to Assam, which is under the consular jurisdiction of the Royal Bhutan Consulate, Kolkata from 14-22 September 2014.
