Consul General’s visit to Meghalaya, 9 – 11 May 2022

H.E. Mr. Jigme Thinlye Namgyal, Consul General of Bhutan in Guwahati made an official visit to Meghalaya from 9 – 11 May 2022, accompanied by the Vice Consul and Consul-Finance. During the visit, the Consul General called on H.E. Shri Satya Pal Malik, Hon’ble Governor, H.E. Shri Conrad K. Sangma, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Smt. Rebecca V. Suchiang, IAS, Hon’ble Chief Secretary, Smt. I Nongrang, IPS, special DGP, Meghalaya and Shri. G.M. Kamei, Commissioner, Customs Northeast Region, Shillong.

The Consul General interacted with the dignitaries of the State Government of Meghalaya over possible areas of collaboration in terms of trade, people to people linkage, cultural, educational and tourism connect. Meghalaya is an important transit for Bhutan’s trade with Bangladesh.

The team also visited Dawki LCS on the second day and interacted with the Customs officials. Dawki LCS is a notified entry/exit point for Bhutan’s trade with Bangladesh.

Mr. Namgyal took charge of the office of Royal Bhutanese Consulate General (RBCG) in Guwahati on 9 December 2021, with consular jurisdiction over the States of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Nagaland.
