The trade sector as part of its economic services, explores market outlets for Bhutanese farm produce including organic products, and promotes “Brand Bhutan” in the Indian market through information dissemination, sample distribution and organization of agricultural fairs and exhibitions. The sector conducts market studies and market outlet surveys to support agro-based cottage and small industries, promotes Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) in line with the (Economic Development Policy, 2019) of Bhutan and coordinates visits of trade/business delegations. The trade sector also works closely with various business chambers and liaises with Bhutanese counterparts and works towards strengthening existing trade relations with India under the framework of Bilateral Trade Agreement, SAFTA and BIMSTEC.
