The German Bhutan Himalaya (GBH) Society organised their annual Bhutan Day event yesterday (15 June) on the theme “Climate Change in Climate Neutral Kingdom” at the Klimahaus in Bremerhaven, Germany.
More than eighty individuals including Ambassador and officials from the Royal Bhutanese Embassy in Brussels, members of the GBH Society, Honorary Consuls and friends of Bhutan in Europe and other officials from Germany attended the event. Speakers from government and regional organisations and private sectors discussed the challenges posed to the Hindu-Kush Himalayan region by climate change.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador highlighted the impacts of climate change in Bhutan and the importance of international collaboration and shared commitment to sustainability. She also thanked the Society for their enduring friendship, dedication and good will to Bhutan, which has among others, contributed significantly to German-Bhutan relations.
Bhutan Day is an annual event organised by the GBH Society on 15th June every year. Established in 1984, it is one of the oldest friendship societies of Bhutan in Europe.
