Diplomatic relations between the two Kingdoms were established on 11 February 2011.

Mr. Tshering Gyaltshen Penjor, Ambassador of Bhutan in Belgium, is concurrently accredited to Spain. H.E. Mr. José Ramón Barañano, Ambassador of Spain to India, is concurrently accredited to Bhutan.
