Ambassador Chitem Tenzin joined as Ambassador of Bhutan to Kuwait on 16 August 2021. Earlier he served as First Secretary at the Permanent Mission and the Royal Bhutanese Embassy in Geneva from 2000-2004 and Minister Counselor at Royal Bhutanese Embassy in Bangkok from 2012 -2015. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2000. He also served as the Head of Administration & Finance in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He has worked in the Ministry of Home & Cultural Affairs since 1987 and has also worked as the Local Administrator/Dungpa of Phuntsholing in Bhutan from 1994 till 1999.
In recent years, he has served as the Deputy Chamberlain /Zimpon Wom in the Office of the Gyalpoi Zimpon from 2015-2020 during which he has also served as the Head of Administration & Finance under His Majesty’s Secretariat.
Received the Royal Civil Service Commission Service Gold Medal in 2018, Coronation Commemorative Silver Medal in 2008 and Médaille d’Honneur du Ministère de l’Intérieur en tant que stagiaire d’autrefois l’Institute International d’Administration Publique (IIAP), France en 1993.
Has Bachelor in Arts from Delhi University and completed post graduate professional studies and training in Public Administration, Foreign Service and Security Studies from India, France, Hawaii and Bhutan. Fluent in English, French, and Hindi as foreign languages. Married and has three daughters.
